Funding at a glance

Amount: £130,000 grant
Approved: 2016
Status: Funding complete

Grimsby and Cleethorpes Area Doorstep offers both supported accommodation and housing support to young people (aged 16-25 years) who are homeless, at risk of homelessness or in housing need.

Funding from the Nationwide Foundation is creating eight homes by bringing empty properties back into use. The affordable homes will be for vulnerable young people and young families who are at high risk of becoming homeless and are in need of stable accommodation in order to establish a settled life.

The properties are a mixture of housing types from family houses to flats and rooms in shared houses. The renovation process provides training and work opportunities for people who have struggled to get a job, enabling them to acquire skills and build up their working track record, to improve their employability.

The Nationwide Foundation’s grant is being used for some of the renovation and salary costs.
