Alternative Housing Models

Our intended strategic outcome is that alternative housing models, with the potential to scale, provide more affordable homes.

Currently there is too little affordable housing in the UK. Therefore the Nationwide Foundation is supporting the development of alternative housing models which have the potential to provide better living options for people in housing need.

Funding is provided to charitable organisations in the form of grants or social investments for work that includes the research, development, piloting and scaling up of alternative affordable housing models. Models may address: increasing the availability of social housing; creating new routes to affordable home ownership; or devising new ways to provide decent, affordable housing to rent or buy. Funding is available for work in this area. Organisations that are developing alternative housing models to create more affordable homes, with the potential to scale, should contact the Foundation to discuss their work and funding requirements.
