Young Offenders

This programme supported six charities which work with young offenders: Addaction, Construction Youth Trust, Motiv8 South, PEOPLE, Safer Wales and St Giles Trust. The organisations provide young people involved with the criminal justice system with rehabilitation programmes. These have been designed to give them the skills, confidence and personal support networks so they can lead fulfilled and successful lives away from crime.

Research has shown that 70% of young offenders reoffend within 12 months of release (Source: Understanding and Preventing Youth Crime by David Carrington for Joseph Rowntree Foundation). Young people need support, training, education and employment opportunities to prevent reoffending.
