Funding from the Nationwide Foundation has enabled five empty properties in the same street in Liverpool to be transformed into high quality, affordable homes. In autumn 2015, residents began moving into these properties, while work is underway to bring a further five houses back into use as affordable homes.

Housing in the Granby district has experienced significant decline in the last three decades, with the majority of residents moving away, leaving properties empty. The Victorian terraced homes had their windows boarded up and many of the properties have fallen into considerable disrepair.

However in the last few years, Granby 4 Streets Community Land Trust – which received a grant of £125,000 from the Nationwide Foundation – has generated a strong sense of local identity, with street markets and events transforming this area into an energised and vibrant community.
